ENKA Schools expect all students from preschool to high school to develop community service awareness and to take active roles in projects.

In the primary school students actively participate in community service projects in all grade levels. At these ages when students start developing an awareness of service to community, they launch initiatives based on the needs of the community, and work towards achieving their goals with excitement. Also, in Grade 4, students select a real world issue of local or global significance, and conduct an in-depth inquiry into it as part of their PYP Exhibition, which is a compulsory component of the PYP. As a result of their learning, they take actions to contribute to the solution of the issue.

The Community Service Project, which is a Grade 7 requirement, is spreading to other years as our school is an official MYP candidate school now. Students are engaged in community service projects which are appropriate to their age and classes. Teachers supervise students in this process. Projects change as students advance to higher grade levels; We expect Grade 5 students to prepare bulletin boards about endangered animals; whereas, Grade 8 students cooperate with students who study at special needs schools and prepare a fair for them.

There is community service in all grade levels at the high school. Grade 10 students have to complete at least 40 hours of community service till end of year. Students start these projects and continue them as a part of CAS studies in Grade 11. The main principle is sustainability for the projects.

  • Students understand the universality of the needs all around the world
  • They also get the chance of experiencing and gaining some skills which make an important difference in higher education or in business life.
